Looking for Volunteers

Last night’s meeting showed that the implementation of this data center is further along than most of us thought, despite the board’s statement that “no proposal has been submitted.” They’ve known about this since August and even know some of the details of what is planned, despite their reticence to share that info.

So we need to get organized, ASAP, and start taking actionable items, such as the following:

  • review the township bylaws & ordinances to see what legal options (if any) we have to prevent this from going through
  • talk to a lawyer and see what legal options we have outside of the bylaws/ordinances, if any
  • filing FOIA requests to see what communication there has been between the board and the developers prior to now
  • getting a physical petition started, and gathering signatures
  • creating informative flyers and other useful handouts and getting them spread to the community
  • door to door outreach and/or phone banking
  • get some yard signs made up and handed out
  • reaching out to news media and getting them involved
  • reaching out to other similar organizations and sharing plans and ideas on how to combat this type of situation
  • and probably a whole lot of other ideas I haven’t thought of!

If any of that sounds like something you’d be interested in helping with, please message me on the Facebook page, or contact me through the contact form on this site. I’ll be scheduling an online (video chat) meeting, probably on Thursday evening, if there’s enough interest in getting this committee going.
